Abstract
The performance of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) system depends heavily on the high voltage, high power rectifier transformer. It connects the power supply and the precipitator. Traditional ESP rectifier transformers operate at 50 Hz low frequency, which have large size and many other disadvantages. In this paper, a high power density medium-frequency transformer is designed for the medium frequency topology of the electrostatic precipitator power supply. The design flow has been optimized by introducing the improved 2D finite element method (FEM) in the design stage. The prototype has been made and the experiment results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the design procedure.
