Abstract :
This paper describes STPCR (stubs-tuned planar coupled resonators) that offers cost-effective, power-efficient, phase hits insensitive, integrable, compact, and low cost spectral pure signal source for wireless communication systems. The measured phase noise for carrier frequencies 4.2 GHz and 9.2 GHz are typically -159 dBc/Hz and -150 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the respective carriers with 16.36 % and 9.28 % DC-to-RF conversion efficiency respectively. To our knowledge, this is the best phase noise performance published using STPCR based VCO in planar domain so far reported.
