Abstract :
In this paper, we propose the mobility agent based handover decision algorithm. Mobile agent performs a handover technique based on the utility function for mobile devices equipped with multi mode interfaces. Utility function utilizes Shannon´s formula adopting the minimum required bandwidth and signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR). The proposed algorithm supports the handover which is considering the best network based on utility function when the mobile terminals handover from fixed network to mobile networks. In order to evaluate the performance, we compare the proposed algorithm against traditional algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed handover decision algorithm improves the handover blocking probability and throughput
