Abstract :
This paper applies two nature-based optimization techniques - the genetic algorithm (GA) in the work of Haupt and Haupt (2004) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) in the work of Kennedy and Eberhart (2001) - to the design of a two-dimensional IR-visible metamaterial using realistic bulk silver parameters by maximizing a properly-defined figure of merit.
