Abstract :
A new technology for generating high quality and powerful terahertz (THz) radiation is presented. Coherent THz synchrotron radiation is produced in a ´low alpha´ optics mode of the synchrotron light source BESSY II. The radiated power grows with the square of the beam current. Compared to the normal, incoherent emission process the power grows up to 100,000 times in the range of 03-1.2 THz (10 cm-1-40 cm-1).
