Abstract
Manufacturing organizations worldwide are increasingly interested in developing a planned approach to investigate the impact of their systems on the environment as well as the impact of government environmental regulations on their operations. An Environmental Management System (EMS) that conforms with the International Organization for Standardization´s ISO 14001 standard assists the organization in identifying these impacts in addition to mitigating any detrimental affect these impacts could have on the environment. This includes identifying relevant environmental regulations that apply to the organization as well as assuring compliance to these regulations.
