Abstract
Energy consumption is always a key issue for Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) composed by sensor nodes. In this paper, with the consideration of the battery characteristics, we analyze the performance indexes of IEEE 802.15.6 MAC protocol under saturation and error-prone channel, such as delay, throughput, and charge consumption. The MATALB and OPnet simulation results show that, after using the recovery effect of battery, the charge can be saved by up to 13%, in comparison to the case without the consideration of battery recovery effect. In addition, the OPnet simulation results accord well with the MATLAB results which are corresponding to the theoretical analysis.
