Abstract :
The operation condition of the external insulation of the converter stations and transmission lines of China´s ±500 kV Gezhouba-Nanqiao HVDC project was surveyed and analysed. The reasons of the flashover and damage of DC bushings and insulators were discussed. Some suggestions for the safe operation of HVDC equipment were advanced
