Abstract :
Monitor automatic gauge control (M-AGC) system plays an important role in ensuring thickness accuracy of the whole strip. To improve the correction speed of thickness deviation for M-AGC system and reduce the length of plate and strip over the range of thickness deviation, a new M-AGC system is applied to hot finishing mill in an aluminum plant. It is this M-AGC system proposing a new control solution for the problem of slow correction speed of thickness deviation for M-AGC system. Through in-depth digestion and research on the new M-AGC system, the control structure diagram of the system is given and the control strategy is described and analyzed in detail combining the control chart with rolling process in this paper. Then, results based on practical production data indicated that the new M-AGC was faster than fast monitor AGC (FMN AGC) in eliminating strip thickness deviation of finished product, and improved the correction speed of thickness deviation successfully. The new M-AGC system could make reasonable redistribution of thickness deviation to facilitate shape control.
