Abstract :
The measurement system developed for application to the AGS (Alternating Gradient Synchrotron) is an outgrowth of that used for the SSC (Superconducting Supercollider) dipoles. The use of the system to measure the field multipoles on a plateau and during a fast ramp is discussed theoretically. The same basic coil assembly can be used to obtain the magnetic multipoles in dipole, quadrupole, and sextupole magnets
