Abstract :
The first transpacific transmission of 20 Gbit/s-based terabit WDM signals is reported. 56×21.4 Gbit/s (1.12 Tbit/s) RZ signals have been transmitted over 9170 km, using a 23 nm C-band EDFA repeater and symmetrically dispersion-managed fibre span, envisaging the use of enhanced hard-decision FEC with 7% redundancy.
