Abstract :
While at least one example of powering remote vehicles using microwaves has appeared, and beaming solar-derived microwave power from space has long been considered a possible way to supplement our power grid, only the work by Goubau and Schwering (1968) on beam waveguides back in the 1960´s has lead to practical applications of the concept. This paper presents results from a recent study by Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, USA on specific aspects of beam steering and beam focusing of a large planar arrays for transmission of power to a relatively small aircraft.
