Abstract :
Innovations in communication have begun to challenge our institutions of education. The traditional systems of knowledge and information that have maintained and benefited the centers of higher learning for centuries are undergoing dramatic change. Since the process of learning is dependent upon communication, any large scale changes in communication will have a significant impact on education as well. This paper applies communication models to define the nature of educational institutions from the past, as well as to outline and envision how innovations in communication will become part of future learning systems.
