Abstract :
Block digital filtering finds many applications in signal processing. The idea is used here to implement a Single Input Single Output (SISO) digital controller as a blocked multirate controller that can operate at lower sampling speed. Plants with very high open loop bandwidth require the digital controller to operate at very high sampling speed, which imposes severe computational requirement on the processors implementing the controller. The blocked multirate scheme decreases the computational requirement per unit time and provides increased speed of operation due to parallelism. An example is given to illustrate usefulness of the proposed control technique.
