Abstract
Recently, distributed decoding was introduced, where multi-user detection is performed across the cell-boundary. Thereby, base-stations cooperate and exchange information in order to cancel intercell interference. Alternatively, a joint detector can be applied. This work extends the idea of distributed decoding to a joint distributed decoding combined with turbo equalization: The Distributed Turbo Equalization (DTE). Thereby, both intercell and intersymbol interference are canceled simultaneously. We present several strategies how base-stations can cooperate from a network´s point of view in order to allow distributed turbo equalization. For different cooperation schemes, diverse equalization strategies are presented. Simulation results show remarkable performance gains compared to a non- cooperating system.
