Abstract :
In order to support the quality and process design of steel plates, intelligent manufacturing database techniques based on information theory and fuzzy theory have been developed. From the collected manufacturing information and measured data from manufacturing, the system prunes the redundant data sets and stores the valuable data sets with their statistical information. A fuzzy query interface to the manufacturing database is also discussed. The time required for design was reduced through the application of the system to actual design work.
