  • Abstract
    Target pose is helpful for maneuvering target tracking system to improve its global performance, but currently it is hardly used. One important reason is that there is short of a suitable pose measurement method. For the reason, a dynamic-template-library (DTL) based method to measure the pose angles of maneuvering target is presented in the paper. It synthetically uses target motion data from radar and image from CCD tracking system to effectively measure target pose by the template matching between the image from CCD and the template in DTL. Therein, the DTL is generated by the technology of visual simulation, and every template in the DTL is a projective shape of virtual 3D target with a different possible pose, where the virtual target is modeled according to the 3D geometric data of real target. To reduce the size of DTL and to improve matching efficiency, target trajectory and particle filter are used to predict target current pose. The characters of the method are: it can aim at uncooperative target and avoids the magnitude of static-template-library and corresponding complicated computation. A simulation shows that it is effective in obtaining target pose. It will have potential important value for maneuvering target tracking system in real battlefield.
