Abstract :
Optical differential phase shift keying (DPSK) may be considered as a duobinary signal. Considering duobinary coding properties, we show theoretically and experimentally that the complicated Mach-Zehnder modulator used at the receiver side can be replaced by a standard narrow optical filter.
