Abstract :
An optimization technique for design of squeeze casting parameters of AZ91D magnesium alloy based on the Anycasting software was proposed in this paper. The various process parameters for a casting model of magnesium alloy were designed. Mold filling and solidification processes of the magnesium casting were simulated with the Anycasting. The simulation results indicated that process parameters significantly affect the quality of the magnesium casting. In an effort to obtain the optimal process parameters of squeeze casting, a retained melt modulus was used to analyze the effect of various process parameters. Three squeeze casting parameters, namely squeeze pressure, die preheating temperature, pouring temperature, were optimized with Anycasting. The optimal process parameters of squeeze casting and simulation result were obtained.
