Abstract :
Summary form only given. In order to construct human-cooperative machinery this study focuses on machine adaptation to humans. Machinery adapting to human condition and characteristics (personal information), which are easy to use and human-friendly, will enable human to use the best of their abilities. Such systems are named Human Oriented Mechanical Systems (HOMES). As the first step of this study, a measuring system concerning a lathe was developed in pursuit of the possibility of personal information recognition during machine operation. Personal information recognition is essential for machinery to adapt to human. Revolutions of the handles, pressure changes applied on the grips of the handles were measured as operative information and pulse, respiration, galvanic skin response were measured as biological information. An information processing system was developed in order to examine the relationships between the sampled information and personal information. As a result the possibility of personal information recognition such as mental strain, concentration during machine tool operation and identification of operator skill was confirmed.
