Abstract :
Periodically-poled lithium-niobate waveguides can be used as a high-speed, low-noise optical mixer. We discuss the recent advances in device characteristics as well as a several optical-signal-processing applications, including: wavelength conversion, time (de)multiplexing, data header recognition and writing, addition, subtraction, and code conversion.
