Abstract :
In this paper, the authors use optical wave propagation in nonlinear media as a method for investigating nonlinear dynamical behavior of complex systems that are not optical. The basic idea is to construct an optical system whose nonlinear dynamics are related to the system we wish to simulate. We have shown that there are important classes of computationally difficult problems in finding a suitable optical simulator.
