Abstract
We proposes a model of information diffusion over social networks, in which individuals can be classified into innovative ones and conformable ones according to their reactions to new information. By simulations over various networks, we find that both the network structure and the composition of population have apparent effect on the extent of information diffusion. We also find that, in different stages of diffusion, innovative individuals and conformable individuals play different roles to promote the spread of information. Furthermore, initial conditions such as which kind of individual is initially activated also has impact on the diffusion.
