Abstract :
Electronic publication, as an alternative to more traditional media, will be adopted by the scientific and engineering community when it meets the needs of that community, when it overcomes the principal problems with conventional publication, and when the electronic option offers more useful capabilities. Certain electronic techniques satisfy the latter criterion. Electronic means provide desirable adjuncts to, but not displacement alternatives for, conventional journal publications
