Abstract
The object of the roller press installation was to add sufficient grinding capacity to the Nazareth I finish mill system to warrant the building of an on-site packing facility, which would then allow the closure of the satellite plant and eliminate the need for costly shipments of clinker and maintenance of the two older finish mill systems that are presently operating at the satellite facility. The major modifications, experiences, and results of the installation are presented. The roller press has achieved up to 70 stph increase on type I cement. This corresponds to an investment cost of only $42000 per short ton of capacity. To this can be added the energy savings of 30% or 15 kWh per short tone. This reduction in energy consumption also reduces the total specific plant power costs and together with off-peak grinding results in savings of over $500000 per year
