Abstract
A new group messaging service (Common Community Conversation - C3) is proposed to facilitate people to have a group conversation with their friends on different social networks. This survey is conducted on group messaging and chat services in telecom networks as well as social networks. The requirements for group C3 service are made based upon the market trend analysis and drawbacks of the existing group messaging services. The architecture and C3 messaging protocol are designed to fulfill these requirements. OpenFire XMPP server is selected to prototype the concept of the group C3 service. Finally main test cases are run to demonstrate that the group C3 service works across different social networks.
