Abstract :
Our research has investigated a number of options for creating an Optical Backplane that meets the future needs of high bandwidth satellites and air platforms. We propose a low power, highly scalable CWDM based architecture based on a passive optical core and intelligent ASIM modules that can provide system capacity of over 1.6 Tbps and has the potential to provide a unified satellite or airframe wide infrastructure.
