Abstract
The electrical power system from the Mexican refineries consists of a 13.8 kV synchronization bus. This scheme has been gradually expanded and now faces saturation and it is not possible to interconnect new loads and generation modules. The scheme is limited by the short circuit current from the power supplies and face voltage regulation problems. In this paper the conceptual design for the modernization of one Mexican refinery is presented. The design was obtained according to the procedure recommended by specialists on conceptual engineering. Three schemes were purposed and evaluated. From this analysis, a 34.5 kV synchronization bus was selected. This scheme can receive new generation modules and loads. The interchange of electrical power between the refinery and the public electrical network is satisfactory and the system is segregated in resistance-grounded islands. In this paper one sets out as complement the transformers use of three windings.
