Abstract :
In this paper, we analyze refrigerator noises through a series of experiments. In the experiments, we performed a number of subjective testing in order to obtain perceptual rating of refrigerator noises. Two refrigerators for home use were selected and noises of the refrigerators were recorded in an anechoic-chamber and a real-life apartment. The noises are recorded at various locations from the refrigerator with different wall settings. The main source of refrigerator noises is a compressor. Thus, depending on whether the compressor is running or not, we classify noises into three states: starting, steady, and ending. From the subjective data obtained from the subjective testing, we provide thorough analyses refrigerator noises.
