Abstract :
The blood flow of a dog´s urethra compressed by an artificial urinary sphincter has been measured by the hydrogen clearance method. Hydrogen was inspired into a dog every hour during the five-hour compression. The experimental results showed that the average blood flow in the compressed urinary tissue of a dog decreases with time during compression, and it recovers to 88.2% of its normal level in one minute after relaxing the compression
