Abstract :
Numerical modeling and design of complex electromagnetic systems, e.g., antennas mounted on satellites, aircrafts or ships, continue to be challenging despite considerable recent progress. The paper begins by first providing a number of practical examples that illustrate the fact there still exists a great need for codes that can handle problems involving a very large number of degrees of freedom (DOFs) and multiscale geometries. It then goes on to discuss the development of two software modules, viz., the CBMOM and SPFDTD, which have been especially tailored to run on parallel platforms, and solve large radiation, scattering and electromagnetic compatibility problems.
