Abstract :
Two potential designs for reconfigurable reflectarray elements are presented. In the first design, the radiating element consists of a microstrip patch loaded with a slot in the ground plane. The length of the slot can be varied by using switches (ON/OFF) and the reflection phase of the element can be controlled. In the second design, the radiating element consists of a microstrip patch loaded with concentric rings. The patch is connected to the rings using switches. By changing the state of the switches, the size of the patch is varied and the desired reflection phase is achieved.
