Abstract :
As technology improves and the awareness of the importance of shared information grows, many Cardiology Information Systems are being developed or released. Four years ago the Cardiology department of the Leiden University Medical Centre had to make the decision to buy or develop their own cardiology information system. The latter has been chosen because of the following reasons: qualifying systems were not available at the time or were too expensive; the software would be developed in close contact with the prospective users, so the local requirements could easily be met; new functionalities or adaptations could be integrated much quicker
