Abstract
We have developed a ridge waveguide (RWG) design allowing the realization of laser diodes with maximum kink-free light output power of up to 900 mW. The design idea is focusing on the introduction of additional optical losses for higher order modes, whereas the zero order modes experiences only minor influences.
