Abstract
Principles of vector analysis are pointed out and applied to investigate, using simulation, faulty operations of a 1.5 MW traction induction motor drive. Consequences of inverter protection schemes are especially discussed with respect to the voltage space vectors present at the motor terminals. It is shown that schemes based on switches turn off may fail to limit fault consequences on the drive performances
