Abstract :
We propose a new optical signal processing technique using optical MEMS for high speed beam steering in base stations. Micromirrors fixed to one of the electrodes for two pairs of parallel plate electrostatic actuators are displaced to control the phase and amplitude of the incoming optical signal. This weighted signal is heterodyned with the reference optical signal and fed to the corresponding antenna element. The radiation patterns of the proposed beam-forming network have been simulated for different sets of look direction and null directions in a 120deg sector
