Abstract
In this paper, the dual wound synchronous machine is studied from the circuit point of view. The dqo transformation is applied to the general equations of the machine and power and torque formulae are developed. Equivalent circuits are proposed to represent the transient and the steady state behavior of the machine. Finally, a digital model, developed to simulate the machine in conjunction with the EMTDC/PSCAD program, is introduced
