Abstract
A novel concept of a broadband single-layer magic-T realization has been proposed. It has been shown that the left-handed (LH) transmission line sections can be used for increase of the coupled-line section coupling coefficient as well as for obtaining appropriate differential phase response. Moreover, a very compact and easy to manufacture design is obtained. The presented concept has been verified by the design and measurements of circuit operating within 0.9 - 1.6 GHz frequency range having coupling imbalance of ±0.6 dB and maximum phase error of 7°.
