Abstract :
The author reviews the latest developments in digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs) as reported in the literature. DSOs are used to digitize and store waveforms, which can be compared, analyzed, and manipulated. DSO capabilities usually include programmability, automatic waveform parameter measurement, display of pretrigger signal activity, and waveform averaging to reduce noise and ripple. Three methods of sampling used in DSOs are described: real-time, sequential equivalent-time (ET), and random ET
