Abstract
This paper introduces the features of the Series 700 Shinkansen high-speed electric train, and describes experimental results of its prototype IGBT traction system. A method to optimize the switching frequency of the IGBT power convertor system, based on FFT analysis of the noise and higher harmonics, is also presented
