Abstract
This paper considers the traffic flow movement and dispersion at multi intersections in the urban road traffic system. The signal controller at a single intersection should control its traffic; moreover, consider the traffic among its neighbors. So the new fuzzy controller based on fuzzy logic and weighting coefficients is proposed. The fuzzy signal controller takes into account the coordination of signal timing between neighbor intersections. The weighting fuzzy module is developed to give the weights that the traffic flow at neighbor intersections imposes on the signal timing at current intersection. The fuzzy rules of the signal controller and the weighting module are produced by the traffic information with the vehicles detectors. The average delay time of a vehicle is used as a performance index. The parameters, that is, cycle time, green splits and phasing are optimized in the traffic network. The simulation results show better performances and adaptability in the cases of time-varying traffic patterns compared with the full-actuated signal controller.
