Abstract
Fast transversal filters are the fastest implementation of the RLS algorithm. The paper presents a new modular architecture for decision feedback equalization of dispersive channels using fast transversal filters. The algorithm is advantageous over the generalized squares fast transversal algorithm which involves matrix manipulations. The modular scalarization reduces the matrix computations to a regular set of scalar operations, thus making it suitable for VLSI implementation
