  • Abstract
The introduction of computer systems has enabled individual operators to monitor, control and plan for train service disturbances over many more interlockings. Computer systems provide more accurate information to regulate headways, plan and implement short term timetable modifications in advance and over much greater sections, often the whole line. However, despite such technology and advances in system designs, all line wide commands affecting train service headway, manual override commands and status warnings were still targeted at individual interlockings. This paper explains how emerging business demands and operating experiences, gained from the existing system, led to the development of a radical new method of controlling train movements through remote controlled interlockings for the Extended Jubilee Line
