Abstract :
Quality of service commitments are not completely specified by the present set of standards concerning ATM networks. This paper describes the basic relationships existing between cell conformance, traffic control and cell losses. Namely, it is stated how a cell loss ratio commitment may be defined on the basis of the proportion of cells transmitted by the user that are conforming to the peak cell rate that is negotiated at set-up time between the user and the network
