Abstract
This paper presents the simulation and experimental investigation of a wideband square slot antenna, the theoretical behavior and the origin of the second resonance in the bandwidth of this antenna is approached. The measurement of the first antenna, working in the UWB band shows a bandwidth of 48% as in electromagnetic simulations. Introducing this kind of antenna in the millimeter-wave domain could be the good choice for both a low cost fabrication and an easier integration to an active circuit. Electromagnetic simulations are under progress to design and to integrate such an antenna to an active MMIC circuit using bonding-wire technique inside a metallic box, in the D-band (110-190GHz).
