Abstract
A user-adaptive interface for in-vehicle information systems, consisting of visual display and tactile display, is proposed to release visual workload inducted by gaze and operation as well as to improve operating feeling. High-frequency sequence is recommended to the user by user modeling, which is trained by user´s navigation data. In addition, button switches corresponding to the sequence are reconfigured enough to be recognized quickly that the others. Integration between visual display and tactile display enables the user looking at the travel road while interacting with the system. Synthesis between GUI image and finger image from a camera is also proposed as a guide teaching where to move. To confirm the effect of the interface design, experiments were performed to measure reaction time according to reconfiguration of button switches.
