Abstract :
Based on a brief overview about the developments in EVs worldwide, a general classification for EV developments is presented. Starting from a proposed classification of EV several initiatives undertaken in Chile are described and analyzed. Special characteristics of the Chilean energy supply and resources are identified and used for an analysis of opportunities and challenges for the integration of EVs in Chile.
