Abstract :
An image array is obtained by taking the digital roots of the addition of single numbers. Its iterative and other properties are obtained. Additional properties are observed which are used in developing a digit controller. Modified image arrays are developed to extend the range. By a suitable switching arrangement, four switches can control 64 digit positions. The switching arrangement needed to obtain a constant output (9) corresponding to a variable input (1 to 8) is developed and shown in the array. A graphical representation of the array is developed, and a simple computer program to obtain the array is shown. Applications of the controller for I/O control, stepper motor control, the cyclic operation of motors, the communication pulse problem, computer graphics, pattern recognition and image position control are mentioned. The limitations are: linear, integer and stable. This paper develops the basic ideas of the digit controller. The basic operations are checked by computer
