Abstract
We present a new group detection strategy for asynchronous DS/CDMA systems. The new detector is a two-stage one: the first stage is a linear filter, aimed at suppressing the effect of the unwanted users signals, while the second stage is a non-linear block, implementing a maximum likelihood (ML) detection rule on the set of desired users signals. Simulation results confirm that the new structure, which encompasses Varanasi´s (1995) group detector as a special case, achieves very satisfactory performance
