Abstract :
The released current from a short-circuited dielectric which contains a space-charge cloud is calculated for a floating space charge distribution under the assumption that the leading edges of the space-charge cloud expand under the influence of a momentary electric field. At a given depth in the dielectric there is a zero field plane and the charge moves from the zero field plane to the two electrodes. The sum of displacement current and conduction current at x=0 and x=L is determined for two time periods. The model curves for released current for different activation energies and heating rates are presented
